Terms of Service

Effective: May 2026 · Last updated: May 2026

By signing up for AirScore, you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English, no legalese.

What AirScore is

AirScore is a paid email subscription. We send a daily morning email with air quality information for your zip code (combining EPA AirNow, NOAA wildfire smoke detection, and pollen data), plus immediate alert emails when conditions cross unhealthy thresholds. The data is sourced from public US government APIs.

⚠️ Not medical advice AirScore provides general air quality information, not medical guidance. Recommendations in our emails are based on EPA's public health categories. If you have asthma, allergies, heart disease, lung disease, or any other health condition, follow your physician's instructions for managing exposure to outdoor air. Our emails are not a substitute for professional medical care.

Subscription & payment

Refunds

We don't offer prorated refunds for partial-month cancellations — instead, we make cancellation easy and your access continues through the period you've paid for. If you were charged in error or have a billing dispute, message the contact form within 30 days and we'll review on a case-by-case basis.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Reliability & service availability

We aim to deliver your morning brief at approximately 7am Eastern Time and to fire alerts within an hour of conditions crossing thresholds. However, AirScore depends on third-party APIs (EPA AirNow, Anthropic, Resend) which occasionally have outages. We do not guarantee 100% delivery on any specific schedule, nor do we offer service-level commitments. If a brief is missed due to an upstream outage, we'll do our best to send it as soon as the dependency recovers.

Data sources accuracy

AirScore relays air quality readings from public US government APIs. We don't generate or modify the underlying data. The closest air quality monitoring station may be up to 25 miles from your zip code — local conditions can vary from the reported AQI. Treat all readings as advisory, not definitive for your immediate location.

Privacy

How we collect, use, and protect your data is covered in the Privacy Policy.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AirScore is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the service or your reliance on its output. Our total liability for any claim related to AirScore is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

This is standard SaaS legal language and reflects the reality that AirScore is a $5/month informational service, not a clinical-grade safety system. If you need life-safety-critical air quality monitoring (e.g., for a medical condition where margin of error matters), use professional-grade equipment and consult your physician.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. If a change materially affects your rights or our obligations, we'll email all active subscribers at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of AirScore after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Termination

You can cancel anytime via the unsubscribe link in any email. We can terminate your subscription if you violate these terms or if Stripe reports fraudulent activity on your account; in that case, we'll refund any unused portion of your current billing period.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any dispute arising from these terms or from your use of AirScore will be resolved in the state and federal courts of the AirScore operator's home state.
